Zürich, Switzerland, 7th October 2023 - General Motors has embarked on its European electric vehicle  journey by introducing the all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ to the market. Jaclyn McQuaid, President and Managing Director of General Motors Europe, announced this new venture at the launch event held at its new Cadillac City Experience Centre in Zürich, marking a pivotal moment for GM's commitment to a greener future.

The star of GM's European expansion is the Cadillac LYRIQ, an all-electric luxury SUV built on GM's revolutionary Ultium platform. With its high-performance capabilities and cutting-edge automotive technology, the LYRIQ is poised to raise the bar for premium EV experiences.

Key technical specifications include a 102-kilowatt-hour Ultium battery pack and two Ultium drive units, offering an impressive estimated range of 530 kilometers on a full charge, paired with a robust 528 horsepower.

The LYRIQ boasts an eye-catching design that stands out in the premium vehicle category, making it a compelling choice for European consumers. Its exterior features a seamless blend of lighting and a distinctive black, crystal grille, while a full glass roof extends to the roof spoiler, enhancing both aesthetics and aerodynamics.

Inside, the LYRIQ exudes elegance, with authentic materials and meticulous attention to detail. Wood and metal décor, adorned with intricate laser etchings, mirrors the exterior grille's design. The interior is characterized by a flowing, organic layout that incorporates a pioneering large, curved-seamless LED display, seamlessly merging art and technology. It also integrates features such as Super Cruise hands-free driving technology (pending required approvals for European deployment) and active noise cancellation for a serene driving experience.

General Motors chose Switzerland as the launchpad for the Cadillac LYRIQ in Europe. Swiss customers can now reserve this high-performance, all-electric premium vehicle directly through Cadillac's website. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2024, marking a significant milestone in GM's journey towards electrification.

Adding to the excitement, GM is opening its first-ever Cadillac City experience center on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. This 600-square-meter facility will offer an immersive environment where customers can explore the world of Cadillac, test-drive the LYRIQ, and personalize their vehicles. The center is envisioned as a community hub for Cadillac enthusiasts and will serve as a platform to discover and explore Cadillac's expanded portfolio of EVs in the future.

Recognizing the evolving landscape of car purchasing, GM is pioneering a digital buying experience for Cadillac customers in Europe. This seamless online platform allows customers to configure their vehicles, secure financing, manage title and registration, and schedule delivery, all in a matter of minutes.

In the broader context, General Motors envisions a European market where highly differentiated EVs offer superior performance and design, providing customers with the choices they need to transition to electric vehicles. As part of the company's commitment to sustainability, this venture is a significant step towards shaping the future of mobility in Europe.

Notably, Shilpan Amin, Senior Vice President and President of General Motors International, has shared this exciting development on LinkedIn,  further emphasizing the significance of this expansion into the European market.

With the introduction of the Cadillac LYRIQ and the associated digital buying experience, General Motors is not just entering the European EV market but is also setting new standards for convenience, luxury, and sustainability. As the LYRIQ hits the roads of Switzerland and eventually expands to other European markets, it represents a tangible commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable automotive future.
